What these drugs are being tested for
The incretin class is being trialled well beyond diabetes and weight. Conditions are grouped from the registry’s own wording — it records the same disease in several forms — and only groupings with six or more trials get a page.
Type 2 diabetes and obesity account for most of the volume, but the same molecules are in registered trials for heart failure, sleep apnoea, fatty liver disease, chronic kidney disease, addiction and Alzheimer’s. Most of it will come to nothing. But you can see what the companies and the universities are spending money on, months before any of it reaches a journal or a label.
Each indication page lists every trial in that grouping with its phase, sponsor and scheduled reporting date, so an indication with a cluster of phase 3 readouts due in the same window is easy to spot.
